Welcome to the September issue and Winnipeg Parent's 17th year of publishing! We are so proud to provide you with invaluable, comprehensive information on raising a family in our great province. We appreciate all of the emails, letters and phone calls letting us know how much you appreciate the publication. We are excited about our 17th year and hope to continue to grow and expand over the next year. We have some exciting plans...to be unveiled in an upcoming issue.
I hope you are taking advantage of every beautiful fall day. September is a great month to get the family out of the house to bike, walk, roller blade or head to your local park to play. Have you been to the Zoo? September is still a great month to visit fall festivals in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba's small towns. Check out the Family Fun Calendar for tons of family fun activities all month.
This issue features our big Back to School Part 2 and Join Up sections, loaded with fall programs and information to review and act upon. Are you thinking about registering your child for sports, pre-school, dance, gymnastics, swimming, art or music classes? Call now to ensure you child is booked before your first choices classes fill up. Why not join a family recreational facility together to attend gym and swim programs? How about attending family plays at Manitoba Theatre for Young People or Fantasy Theatre? or attend the WSO Sunday Concerts with the Family? Did you know that your local museums offer memberships so you can visit them on a regular basis? Of course, the Manitoba Children's Museum closes down in September for their big renewal of galleries and facilities. We will miss them as a family destination but their plans are so exciting that the wait for reopening will be worth it. You can still take in the Manitoba Museum or the Western Canada Aviation Museum to have family fun in their galleries. Winnipeg is such a great city for families and has a huge variety of quality programs for children and families. Our goal is to provide a quick and easy guide to the best! I hope your family's transition to Back to School runs smoothly. It takes organization and planning to get the family out of the house in the morning without the drama of getting everyone up, dressed, fed and out the door. Make a vow to organize everyone the night before with backpacks packed and lunches waiting in the fridge.
