Playmore Day Camp
Playmore Day Camp offers opportunities for cottage owners and Kenora residents looking at short term summer camp activities. The day camp is geared to children, four- 12 years, who experience the magic of camp and still return home each evening! They have the best of both worlds - a camp community which is built exclusively for kids and their own home which provides the security they need and quality time in the summer with their families. The success of our campers is centered on age-specific groups, experienced and well-trained staff, and our wide variety of activities. We provide activities like swimming, arts & crafts, archery, canoeing, kayaking, ropes course, sports, games, and group initiative activities. We also offer Friday lunch cook-outs and the occasional outing. Through hands-on activities, careful supervision and low counselor to camper ratios, Playmore Day Camp builds self-esteem, provides an excellent opportunity for individual growth and offers a safe and enjoyable summer alternative for children. We also offer a CIT (counselor in training) program for 13 ñ 15 year olds seeking advanced leadership programs within a day camp environment. Some sessions are full.

Assiniboine Park Zoo Camp
It's an Adventure they can get their hands on!
Summer Camp at Assiniboine Park Zoo is perfect for children 5 to 12 years of age who love animals, nature, art, and spending time outdoors. Campers will enjoy fun-filled summer days exploring the Park and Zoo and learning about animals and nature while making new friends.
Weekly camps in July and August alternate between two themes that give children the chance to experience the Zoo in a whole new way. This year's themes are:
- The Lost Tales
- The Magic of Nature
Daily activities include a hands-on animal experience, and a trip to either the Polar Playground at the Zoo or the Nature Playground in the Park. Each week, campers will also enjoy a behind the scenes Zoo experience, discover the benefits of animal enrichment, and a private chat with an animal care professional.
While there is so much to see and do at the Zoo, campers will also venture out into Assiniboine Park to explore the gardens, forests, Riley Family Duck Pond, and other attractions. Each day brings a new adventure!
Campers are divided into four age groups. The daily schedule and activities are tailored to be age-appropriate and encourage positive social interactions among campers. Register your child for one of the four age groups:
- Cubs (age 5)
- Polar Bears (age 6-7)
- Jr. Keeper (age 8-9)
- Jr. Researcher (age 10-12)
Space is limited and many weeks sold out early last summer. Registration now open. Register early to avoid disappointment!
Are you a Park and Zoo Member? Members enjoy unlimited Zoo admissions and save 10% on all camps and other education programs at Assiniboine Park and Zoo. Visit the Assiniboine Park and Zoo websites for more information.
Summer 2020 with Mad Science
Discover the draw of Mad Science in the summer at your local community center. Mad Science engages children in scientific explorations that are so much fun children will forget they're learning! Each of our camps are one week of hands-on science fun.
The following is a description of the camp themes:
Extreme Science Camp
Here at Mad Science weíre looking forward to bringing back our original Science camp. This is the camp that made summer an exciting time for our budding Mad Scientists. Each day has its own theme from Heat (with humongous solar balloon to solar ovens to cotton candy) to Ice (of course Dry Ice and to top it off we make ice-cream without a machine!) and Bugs; join us on a bug safari and the campers design a bug habitat. And on the final day we have a spectacular rocket launch...parents welcome. In addition, each camper will make his/her own rocket to take home and launch! (Under supervision, of course.) Recommended for children 6-12 years old.
Red Hot Robots Camp
At our camp Red Hot Robots, each camper will build their own robot and take it home at the end of the week! On top of that we will be looking at different aspects of robot ëlifeí such as learning to walk like a robot, articulating ëgrippersí to lift things and the concept of ëcentre of gravityí. In addition we will gain new understandings of the Mad Science workshops ëMachinesí, as well as circuits and electricity. This is a great camp for kids interested in these related subjects as well as games and activities associated with them. Campers must be at least 7 years or older for our Red Hot Robots camp because of the manual dexterity robot building demands.

Benefits of Soccer Camp for Kids
The benefits of soccer camp for kids might seem obvious ñ healthy, physical activity. But at the Royal City Soccer Club, soccer camp is so much more. Boys and girls will learn life skills at soccer camp which extend far beyond the one or two weeks of their camp session. Kids will learn leadership and team building skills while gaining self-confidence that doesnít come easily in some environments. You donít have to be a great soccer player in fact, you donít need any soccer experience at all to attend our soccer camp. Whether your son or daughter wants to improve his/her skills or simply want to try soccer in a non-competitive, fun environment, our summer day camp is the right choice for you. While, yes, soccer is the focus for most soccer campsÖit is hardly the most important thing that is taught. The most important things taught at a soccer camp are personal development and life skills all while having the fun. After all, if your child is not having fun doing itÖwhat is the point.
The Royal City Soccer Club is excited to host our 28th year of summer soccer camps....#1 in Canada. Having hosted over 300,000 campers in over 100 locations across Canada, our grassroots soccer camps are the most popular in Canada. Our program is designed to promote personal development, team building and of course, FUN! Our camp program is uniquely designed to offer a soccer focus in the morning and a leisure swim with other camp activities in the afternoons. We encourage all boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13 to register for full day and morning sessions. Each camper receives a camp soccer ball, t-shirt, medal, excellent camp ratios and much more. We also offer early drop off and pickup times fully supervised. Our camps operate during the months of July and August at 3 locations across Winnipeg. Call us for more information at 1-800-427-0536 or register online by visiting our website.
