March and April are two very exciting months that we have been thinking about since the beginning of 2011. Goodbye long, cold, dark winter days and hello Spring thaw, Spring Break and Garden Centres! Why can't a Winnipeg winter be one month shorter? Winnipeg does not seem to be included in the feared global warming. Wouldn't it be great if the snow melted in February rather than late March?
I am excited to present to you this BIG issue! It features an extensive Spring Break section filled with great programs, camps and events for kids and families. Book your children into programs well in advance if you want to get a spot. Many programs book up early so if you are a parent working during Spring Break, it is important to have your children organized ahead of time. Some places offer daily events and programs, others, cover the whole week.
We also present or annual Summer Camp Superguide in this issue. Summer camp is something every child should experience. There are summer camps for preschoolers to teenagers, full and half-day camps as well as sleep-away camps that offer children the chance to get away, meet new friends and learn new skills. Our province offers camp programs for every interest: Dance, musical theatre, equestrian, sports, outdoor education, animals, art, careers, computers and nature programs. How about going to camp as a family! You can do that too! You name it - we most likely have the program you are looking for in our Superguide! Check it out and let the camps know you saw their information in Winnipeg Parent.
Please join us at Winnipeg Parent's 8th Annual Family Fun & Learning Fair, Sunday, May 1st, 10am - 4pm at the Manitoba Museum. It promises to be a fabulous day of family friendly exhibitors, activities and family fun!
Happy Spring, Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
