Spring is in the air! It has been a long cold February but things are warming up! The new provincial holiday, Louis Riel Day definitely helped give us some extra family time, although my sons were lamenting that it wasn't fair that their university reading week started on the holiday, which meant one day less of a break from classes. Life is rough boys!
It's time to get out the rain boots and splash pants and hope for the
Best when the kids come home from school. Will they be soaked from head to toe? I remember those days when I would send a change of clothes to school just in case the kids landed in a puddle at recess. If there's a puddle, you can bet that kids will be attracted to it!
Spring Break is around the corner and now is the time to investigate the many events and camp programs to keep the kids busy. Check out this issue for our Spring Break section filled with great places to go and exciting things to do. Many parents have to work over the break so booking kids into programs to keep them busy is a priority. There are so many day camp programs to choose from and we can help you find a program for your kids.
If you have the time off with your kids, it is a great opportunity to reconnect as a family, to do nothing but relax together at home or go out on family field trips. Our city offers so much to see and do and much of it is free or almost free! Take a look at our Spring Break Top Ten List and get out and enjoy a vacation in your own city!
This issue also features our annual Summer Camps Part 1 section. Yes, it is time to think about sending your children to summer camp. There are day camps and sleep-away camps, sports camps, music camps, theatre camps, art camps, nature camps, riding camps and computer camps. There are one-day camp experiences in the city, weekly programs and even 4- week canoe trips in the wilderness. What ever your child's interest, there is probably a camp to fulfill it.
If you want to learn more about summer camps, we have the perfect opportunity for you! You are invited to Winnipeg Parent's Family Fun Fair and Summer Camps Caravan, Sunday, April 6, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm at the Rady Jewish Community Centre at 123 Doncaster Street. We are partnering with the Manitoba Camping Association who will have approximately 20 camps on display. It will be a great opportunity to meet camp staff, ask questions and learn more about the many camp opportunities. Of course there will also be many family friendly exhibitors featuring local programs, businesses and products that will be of interest to children, parents and caregivers. Check out the back page ad and peruse our Web site for listings of our exhibitors, activities and entertainment.
Have a wonderful Easter, Passover and Spring Break!
Susan
